Short characterization: ======================= "A practical handbook of occult techniques for the Aquarian Age" is what it says on the inside of the front cover. Contents: ========= Opening the Doors to Your Inner Mind Journeys to Vision The Nature of Healing Creating a Magical Temple The Patterns of Ritual Magical Experiments of Time The Magic of Space Travel Minds over Magic The Art of Talismanic Magic Gods for the Future The author: =========== Marian Green is an accomplished author of occult books, particularly about Green Ray magick. She is also the editor of Quest Magazine, a quarterly occult magazine that also arranges postal courses and interfaith meetings. The chapters: ============= In the introduction Green introduces the subject of magick and gives advice about how to do the exercises. The first chapter deals with meditation and visualization. In the second chapter Green talks about pathworking, scrying and how the two methods might be combined. Chapter three is about healing of yourself and others. Some common healing methods are discussed. The fourth chapter gives advice on how to furnish a temple, dress in ritual and symbols. Chapter five discusses what a ritual is, how to prepare for it and when to celebrate. In the sixth chapter Green talks about past life experiences and reincarnation. She goes on to give methods to achieve past life experiences safely and efficiently. The seventh chapter deals with divination: Tarot, I Ching, scrying etc. There's also a part about astral travel. In the eight chapter some often scoffed over issues are dealt with: ufos, esp and metal-bending for instance. Chapter nine has information about how you can make talismans, charms and amulets. In the tenth chapter religion and religions are covered. The book concludes with a resource listing (with some old addresses) and an index. Personal view: ============== I must admit that I'm very fond of Marian Green's style of writing. In this book she gives some sound advice on how to get started with a number of popular occult techniques, interspersed with pep talk. There are also some views which can be hard to swallow. Green can be quite authoritarian at times. I suppose either you can see beyond that, or you get annoyed at her. Conclusion ========== A smorgasbord of occult techniques with some very questionable views. At first it looks like a book for the beginner, but you probably need rather a lot of guts to start out with this book. I heartily recommend it to solitaries with a few years of training. --Ceci (94-08-22)
