Date: Monday, 9 Aug 1993 17:39:46 EDT From: WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES An absolutely wonderful book that has spent exactly one year on the New York Time Bestseller list (as of 8/8/93), more often than not in the Number one spot. Invaluable to anyone (not just women) who is feeling trapped, or feels that there is something else that they need, that is not being expressed. Also for anyone who is being oppressed by family or others, this offers insight into the way their minds are working, and what you can do to get out of it. Clarrisa Pinkola Estes also offers insight into the types of healing needed by people who have been in that kind of oppression, and what they need to do for a nd to themselves. All in all, an excellent, excellent book. If you haven't gotten it already, go out and find a copy. In the same vein, Z. I think you will be very pleased and touched with a lot of the imagery. Estes is very good at spinning a yarn or two! Beware, tho! Don't be discouraged if you have to put it down for a while. It is a ton to digest! I've been reading it for the past month in and around about a zillion other books I've been reading at the same time. I am in the last section, and I will probably reread the book again as soon as I finish the first time. > Invaluable to anyone (not just women) who is feeling trapped, or > feels that there is somehting else that they need, that is not being > expressed. Also for anyone who is being oppressed by family or > others, this offers insight into the Yes! I had been feeling very trapped creativewise, and really needed to make more time to express myself. The book was on sale at BookStar because it was a bestseller and was almost half off for me because I had a booksaver's card (or whatever they call it). I didn't know\ if it would be good, but it seemed like a good deal, so I took a chance and bought it. I am very glad I did, because that book helped cheer me up a bit. > Clarrisa Pinkola Estes also offers insight into the types of healing > needed by people who have been in that kind of oppression, and what > they need to do for and to themselves. Exactly. For me, it wasn't the only help I needed, but it did indeed help. I am not totally up to my full creative self yet, but I feel like I am making progress, where I just felt stuck before. > All in all, an excellent, excellent book. I bought that book as well, soon after I bought _Women Who run with Wolves_. It seemed like another book that could help and it did give me a few needed ideas. I noticed the 'Wild Woman' references in both books. One could just as well put 'Goddess' in the place of 'Wild Woman' in both books for those who are so inclined. Another thing I liked about _Women Who Run With Wolves_ is it orients the chapter topics around fairy tales, legends, stories, whatever you want to call them. I definitely second these book recommendations. Bekki Lyn
