So unless the Deliverance convention organisers officially licensed the name from the BBC, or the Pope, they are hardly in a position to criticise someone else for "use of someone else's intellectual property". ISTR one of the rock groups were sued over this issue because they included in one of their videos several seconds footage of someone (a complete nobody, but the band thought the person would look good in the video) and did not ask for permission to include this in their rock video. You're missing MY (I'm LUCY, not Diva) point entirely. I challenged some of Kathryn's criticisms about the con. She has refused to discuss or defend her opinions. She is using the fact that she feels flamed by someone else's comments as an excuse not to reply to mine. I don't believe this is fair, either to myself or to the con. As I've said, coming in here, making criticisms, then refusing to discuss or defend them is as bad if not worse than flaming. By the way, I can appreciate and agree with a lot of other specific criticisms of the con, the main one being lack of communication. That is one of those issues that is easy to overlook in the original planning and then is not always implemented correctly on the day. (Look at any large scale event). When you're in the middle of trying to solve a problem, it's difficult to judge at which point you let the general public know there's a problem. You always hope that it will be sorted out before you have to. No. Avon wins by his own brute force. He works out that it takes time to recharge, so mounts repeated attacks until the "battery" runs down and he can beat her on his own terms. It's only after he's subdued her physically that he kisses her. This is typical Hommik behaviour, and it makes me feel distinctly sick. Actually - and I hope this isn't taken the wrong way, though it seems a very faint hope as everything else has been - I'd prefer not to know who Diva is at this point. Not because I want to avoid her (I assume she's female) but because, if I were to meet her in real life, I'd feel horribly embarrassed in present circs. I do hope this has run its course. It appears to me that all the con reports had one thing in common - the writers enjoyed Deliverance, for one reason or another. And most of the criticism was constructively aimed - praise be, there will be further cons, and the organisers need advice on how to do the best they can. My principal advice would be "if you're using a ticketing system, advertise it in large letters in as many conspicuous places as possible". There was a photograph on sale there of Sally (incidentally, not, as some have suggested, a publicity shot) which she wasn't particularly keen on, though she made no attempt to stop Horizon selling it. Diane, of her own volition, chose to tear up the copies of this photograph since Sally felt that it wasn't a "good" photo. There was nothing more sinister than that about the incident. I can't comment on any other incidents, but certainly in this case, it wasn't a copyright issue, simply that Sally felt the photo in question was not a particularly good one. She made no request to have the photos withdrawn or destroyed, but Diane, out of common courtesy, chose to remove them from sale. End of story. Judith J.M.
