Trouble is, that's not the way much of the techno generation sees things. The reaction is "Why should I pay money to get something that I can pull off the net for free?" I'm contemplating doing a website for Val's art, complete with *one* free sample of what stuff scanned at high resolution looks like, so that they have an answer. As anyone who's seen _Endless Farce_ can testify, thay can look very pretty indeed. -- Julia Jones ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 5 Apr 1999 10:08:31 EDT From: SupeStud00@aol.com To: Julia.lysator@jajones.demon.co.uk, blakes7@lysator.liu.se Subject: Re: [B7L] Top Ten Message-ID: Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Of interest, my top ten has been posted at www.angelfire.com/sd/thestud. You do them a service, you put a great deal of time and effort and disk space into something, and do they appreciate it? Do they thank you? Not at all. I put Acrobat versions of Refractions #1 and Refractions #2 up on the web (that's the Real Thing, the masters get printed from this). Three people responded. (Thank you Joanne especially.) The counter on that page, today, stands at 101. That's a 3% response. Pathetic, considering that email is much easier to send than snail mail. Why should I bother? Tell me why. > I'm contemplating doing a website for > Val's art, complete with *one* free sample of what stuff scanned at high > resolution looks like, so that they have an answer. As anyone who's seen > _Endless Farce_ can testify, thay can look very pretty indeed. Good point. I put the cover art of Refractions on the Refractions web page, but it is scanned in at about 1/3 the resolution that the real thing uses. Maybe I should put a note to that effect. He looked across at Mary Sue who smiled at him and took her hand in his. "Isn't Jesus wonderful ?" she said. They exchanged a look of perfect love and understanding. "I'm so glad I've become a Born Again Christian" said Avon. "Will you marry me ?" "Of course I will". Suddenly they were aware that Soolin was standing behind them "When did you get religion ?" she hissed. Stephen (Departing the stage to jeers, catcalls and actual machine gun fire).
