It would be very plausible for Jenna still to be alive after all. Maybe Blake was lying about her death, or maybe he sincerely did think she was dead. Maybe she somehow got off her ship before it exploded. Maybe she was injured in the explosion and became amnesiac as a result, and has only just remembered who she is. (Sort of like Hellhound Blake. :) Sally K. still has plenty of star quality-- maybe even more than when she was young and inexperienced. She could certainly carry off a major role. Nice idea. I'd say you may have come up with *the* definitive list. Mine looks like this: Complex, intelligent, passionate, consistent, and magnetic. And I do have a preference -- it's the consistency that matters to me. And thanx to David McIntee for the word passionate, which is the one I was casting about for and couldn't find. What are the things that we would like to see? Mistral's Ultimate B7 Fantasy Wish List: ===================================== Must Haves: A balanced emphasis between all the returning regular cast, instead of focusing on one or two. Terrific Avon-Vila bits. More character development of everybody; particularly Soolin, if used. The characters are older, they should have matured some; possibly a slightly more world-weary Vila; he was starting to get that way at the end of series D. Stronger writing for the female crew. A plot, a la series B. (As opposed to an action flick, a la series D.) Action sequences for pacing and punctuation, but not dominant. Regular Federation citizens, who *aren't* either rebels or Federation lackeys -- people like Bek, Hanna, Bellfriar. I'd particularly like some grittiness -- maybe even run into the Terra Nostra again. ===================================== Extremely Desirable: Blake -- how about as computer-interface simulation? Flies the new ship, mothers the crew, philosophizes with Avon and prods them all into action. Rebuild the Liberator. (Yes, well, I'm fantasizing, okay?) Sally Knyvette; if not as Jenna, then maybe a new baddie? Interesting but unobtrusive guest stars, for example, Diana Rigg as a Federation official and Servalan's nemesis; David Suchet as an Amagon or other baddie; etc. The return of a minor character, such as Tyce, Artix, Bek, Ro, etc.; maybe Del Grant as leader of a rival faction? Lots of little in-jokes for long-time fans to watch for: cameos by actors who were on the series, a character named Valentine, a bar called the Minbari; etc. Let them come out ahead of Servalan for a change; get the downbeat ending some other way. And I *do* think it should have a (mildly) downbeat ending, if only to avoid giving the BBC a reason to launch a cheerily optimistic 90's series. Keep it B7. ===================================== Scenes I'd Like to See: Avon and Soolin relaxing together over ice-cream sundaes. Tarrant pulling off some brilliant piloting and getting a big kick out of it. Avon finally kills Servalan; if we view this as an AU, the Servalan fen should be able to handle it. Somebody actually engaging in a hobby: listening to music; collecting real books, with pages; sketching; I'd like to see that they know the value to the human being of relaxation. Somebody catches Avon doing something ridiculous, like impersonating a movie star or dancing around his room. Vila finally wins a game!!!!!!! Now, there's a happy thought. You certainly could use these words to describe either man. I'm sure that is how they saw each other. Here are my adjectives for Avon (not that I can match Penny's!) Intelligent, clever, penetrating, judgmental, conscientious. Could these be Blake too? Could these be Blake too? Intelligent and conscientious I'd agree with immediately. Penetrating? Well, I'd have to make up my mind as to whether or not Arlen would've fooled Blake at the start, as well as at the end. Otherwise, fair enough. As for Avon, I'd substitute devious, and I'd have to think about calling him penetrating and conscientious. The latter, I'm afraid, seems to depend on what's in it for him. Somebody actually engaging in a hobby: listening to music; collecting real books, with pages; sketching; I'd like to see that they know the value to the human being of relaxation. The only two instances of this happening in the series that I can remember both involve Cally: she took a moondisk as a pet and was listening to music one time when she was on teleport duty. I would like to see what the others would find relaxing. Jacqueline -------------------------------- End of blakes7-d Digest V99 Issue #168 **************************************
