Having gloomed around about this for a considerable time and kept thinking the worst possible thoughts in order to prepare myself, I now find the news that Letts isn't involved is quite enough to make me feel positively optimistic about the Movie. I'm sure that if Paul Darrow was writing the screenplay then we'd have heard, (he'd probably be quite proud of himself, so it would have been used as a selling point). Lighthill isn't too bad, and you know, maybe they'll come round to using Boucher in the end anyway. Does anyone know how far along this project is? I get the impression that the screenplay isn't written yet, and that no-one has officially been pinned to do it, so there's hope yet. And you know, Lighthill could surprise us! It can't be done - there's nothing that can redeem "Animals" in the minds of the fans - the Q study proved that. Talk about flogging a dead horse! It's impossible to picture him as Vila, simply because I have no idea who he is. I don't much like the idea of Christopher Walken as Avon (too much menace and not enough, erm, appeal to the hormones), but someone may. I've always known him best as either Mr. Pink from Resevoir Dogs, Antonio Banderas' friend in Desperado, or the bitter alcohol brother/best man at one of the weddings in The Wedding Singer. From what I've read (but I haven't had a chance to see these films) he's also been in Fargo and Armageddon. It's not a good choice IMO. His characters that I've seen) all tend to have a seedy slimy kind of feel. I sincerely doubt he could pull off anything remotely innocent looking like Michael Keating, which is important for a master thief.
