This presumably being the same John kenneth Muir whose Dr Who tome was killed for copyright reasons- looks like he's two for two so far, so I wouldn't hold my breath... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Sep 1999 05:48:02 -0700 (PDT) From: "S. An announcer on our local PBS station said, while >introducing "Space Island One," that it was "like >Blake's 7." All I saw was a soap opera, not B7-like >at all. Anybody else see this new-to-the-US series? >Comments? >... I've seen SIO. I think it resembles B7 in that both invest screen time in depicting human relationships. Isn't that refreshing. SIO even has sexuality. SIO is not so strong an Action Drama as B7 and the humor is confined so far to the cute little robots. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Message-Id: <05031274770915@domain7.bigpond.com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit An out of context paragraph from Rec.Arts.DrWho (on the subject of "Are the comic strips cannonical")- "I'm not even sure that DWM has the ambition any more. The Cybermen and revived Dalek strips were both interesting ideas but failures. The former was hindered by its general incoherence (as if Alan Barnes were having trouble with the grammar of one-page episodes) and the daft decision to present Adrian Salmon's wonderful black-and-white art in colour. The latter was a reactionary idea anyway, came across as very outdated and made the mistake of concentrating on stock, depthless human Tarrants (characterisation Terry Nation style!) rather than the Daleks. Segments of the original TV Century 21 strip come close to masterpieces of pulp surrealism - 'Duel of the Daleks' and 'Shadow of Humanity' especially - but the rest drop into shoddy xeroxing of Dan Dare whenever anything with legs ventures onto the scene (this is an accusation you could level at every other British sf strip of the 1960s mind you, but that's no excuse!)" Any comments/reactions? ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 Sep 1999 10:27:00 +0100 (BST) From: Judith Proctor To: Lysator List cc: Freedom City Subject: [B7L] Knightwriter Press Message-ID: Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; CHARSET=US-ASCII Linda's contacted me because she's had a sudden spate of people asking her if she's getting out of fanzine sales. She doesn't know where the rumours started (though the sheer volume of them suggests that someone is spreading them with great enthusiasm). I got a query myself two days ago on the same topic and didn't even need to bother checking with Linda before denying the rumour. I know the rate at which she's adding new titles to her list! It seems to be a rare week in which at least one new title doesn't appear. Indeed, Linda's message to me said that she is well, has no intention of giving up doing fanzines and could people please pass this on to anyone they hear the story from.
