I can remember the twelve year old me being affronted by what she seems to have seen as the sub-Doctor Who monster concept of vampire sand. I play AD &D, a fantasy RPG, primarily. There is in our group, a Vila Restal, Kerr Avon (and his twin sister), Jenna, and Roj Blake. Another character was named Oracon and had nothing to do with B7, but notheless, we inevitably shortened his name to Orac. We've also had NPCs such as a telepath named Cally, and giantess (?!) named Dayna show up. We rescued a Del Tarrant from a dungeon once, and have fought a one-eyed, one-handed villian named Trav, and Axel Reiss (from Terrible Aspect, if you haven't read it)-- if we get back to the game, we will be having our final show-down with Servalan soon. Most of the characters have been played very true to the originals' personalities, but the powers and skills have obviously been changed. Some are good analogies to between SF and F, but others have gone fairly far off course. We've completed the provisional programme now. We've got debates and discussions on many aspects of Blake's 7 (was Avon really a psychopath? Why was the Federation's military strategy so terrible? etc.), games ranging from the Dalek scalextric set to RPGs. We've talks on subjects ranging from astrophysics to make-up. There's totally off-topic workshops on juggling and puppetry (all right, so there's a wonderful marionette of Avon and it will be in the auction...). There's quizes, competitions, table-top cricket, a group of totally insane Klingons, a session to build your own spaceship from household junk, writing workshops (by David McIntee, EPS aka Lilian Sheperd, and Jane Killick), bloopers from B5 and B7, plus Joe Nazzaro, Sheelagh Wells, Brian Croucher and the amazing David Walsh. Whaddya mean, you've never seen David Walsh? He does a unique impersonation of Servalan. If you were at Deliverance or the last Who's 7, you'll certainly remember him. Has to be seen to be believed. Not forgetting filking, Sheridan's trial for treason, videos from many shows as well as favourites from B7 and B5, the disco, more games, bring and buy sale for second-hand zines, chaos costume workshop, etc. Judith PS.
