THE MIDDLE PILLAR EXERCISE Issued by the Thelemic Order and Temple of the Golden Dawn (Novus Ordo Aureae Aurora) By Sir David Cherubim Copyright (c) 1990 e.v. 1. Visualize yourself in a Temple of your choice. Face West. See the Black Pillar on your right side and the White Pillar on your left. 2. Visualize a Flaming Sphere of brilliant White Light emanating seven inches from above your head. Inhale deeply and vibrate the divine name of Eheieh (A-hay-yeh), which means I Will Be or I Am. 3. Bring down the Light from above and visualize a Flaming Sphere of brilliant Indigo at the nape of your neck. Inhale deeply and vibrate the divine name Yehowah Elohim (Yeh-ho-waw El- o-him), which means Lord God or Lord of Gods. 4. Bring down the Light and visualize a Flaming Sphere of brilliant Yellow at your heart centre. Inhale deeply and vibrate the divine name Yehowah Eloah va-Daath or IAO (eee-aaa-ooo). The former means Lord God of all Knowledge and the latter is a Gnostic name of the Sun. 5. Bring down the Light and visualize a Flaming Sphere of brilliant Violet at your genital region. Inhale deeply and vibrate the divine name Shaddai el Chai (Sha-di el Khi), which means Almighty God of Life. 6. Bring down the Light and visualize a Flaming Sphere of brilliant Green at your feet. Inhale deeply and vibrate the divine name Adonai ha-aretz (A-don-i ha-aretz), which means My Lord of Earth. 7. Now see the Light ascend vertically in front of you to the Sphere of White Light above your head, and then feel it descend vertically down your back. See it forming itself into a Circle of Light moving rapidly around you. Then visualize another Circle of Light forming itself and moving rapidly around your waist area. The idea here is to build up the telesmatic image of the Atom, so that you will now need to form two more Circles of Light moving rapidly around you. 8. When you effectively see yourself as though encompassed by an Atom, perform the Qabalistic Cross (See Lesser Pentagram Ritual). (Note: The Middle Pillar Exercise should be done slowly and with great care and attention. It is a most effective magical method of awakening the higher currents within, and must be used with great patience and earnest aspiration. This exercise informs and nourishes the Aura with the divine Light from above. Thus it is a highly potent and serious method of the Great Work.)
