Thoughts just for the sake of thinking. Over thinking. Working a problem to death. Worrying a problem to death. Swords represents, to me, our own problems. Our spirit can go off track guided by our mind (Swords) and direct our mind into whatever minor problem there is. For example, our mind is like a monkey, forever working on whatever we are focused on at any particular given time. The monkey will play with that thought, tossing it in the air, jumping on it, beating it, kicking it, tossing it to his friends; until it loses interest. The problem might be so small as to never be given a second thought under "normal (healthy)" circumstances but, because, at this time, we are under stress (unheathly) circumstances, our internal monkey works this problem into chaos. Our minds create a "Swords" state. And, our minds will get us out of this state, eventually. The trick is when! Swords are stilled by Earth and Water, substances which cause friction. But can be angered by Fire, which give it fuel. BTW, I never read Swords as reversed. The cards always contain their upright and reversed meanings naturally. GreyMuse
