Why is it that tarikkats do not practice withdrawal as Christian order practice monasticism? Because the the most excellent source of contemplation and self-knowledge is found in the market-place, the school and the home. Reflection upon reflection is available and everywhere you look there is Allah. Yet, there is a time and a place for withdrawal. Like so much else, knowing when, where and WHY is the key for a "successful" khalwat (seclusion). And as with everything else, there are useful and not so useful ways of doing it. Salams, Habib N. The above two paragraphs is the nearly the exact philosophy of the man Jay Em who teaches people to heal themselves. Jay is now teaching people all over the country to be teachers of self-healing! Such is the way of Kahunas of Polynesia, those that passed through India by way of Egypt coming from Atlantis 1000s of years ago. All of the latter seemed, seem to go out of their way to not bring attention to themselves, seeming to have little or no egos. But Sai Baba seems to do just the opposite, in somewhat the fashion of the reported character of Jesus. The devotees seem to be prompted to "worship" Sai Baba through his "manifestations"... there is no judgement here as I know that sufficient faith in a rock can bring results, and after all, a rock is an aspect of The Beloved. The author is an American writer who fell in love with Sai Baba; yet the book ends on an ambivalent note. Baba's materialisations of jewelry and ashes are discussed a lot in the book from a fairly skeptical standpoint. If I remember correctly, the author decides that the presence of Baba is the miracle; the source of the manifestations is secondary. Is this the passage through the seven nafs, or the seven stages of godrealisation? (remember Gurdjeff's All and Everything , they are not redundant terms, they imply a qualitative distinction, just as the repetition of Rahman was Rahmin in the sura Fatiha) *What sort of process is alluded to ? *What is the relation between 7 and 4? *And One? If we imagine each of these 4 cornerstones relating to the orientation of the Kaaba, *which corresponds to the setting of the black stone? and What is the black stone? *What is the khilva and what is the unveiling ? * What is the function of poetry? *Why only the first line is remembered? *Can WE(all and each one of us) re-remember the second verse? - ----------------- Maybe some of use, each of us, all of us may attempt to find some answers to these 11 questions, or even better put new questions?
