They're a 3-piece band from Austin with only one official release so far: the 7 song EP 'a folding sieve'. The song 'Breathe Salt' is VERY Slowdive-ish, although their sound is much more than that. They have a 7" coming out soon. Has anyone heard Half-String's new album yet? Yet another very cool shoegazey band from Arizona. cheers ian ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 28 Dec 1996 15:24:04 -0800 From: Ian Nguyen Subject: Shinkansen releases stateside? I recorded a gorgeous song off of the radio about 5 years ago (I think it was called pluck song or something like that), and I've been looking for the cd since. If anyone has any info about the band or where I might be able to purchase the cd please let me know. Thanks. Sara p.s. Paris" Subject: DARKSTAR's BEST OF 1996 LIST!!! Hi everyone, Here it is finally. My round-up of what got my musical attention in 1996. I do not profess this to be scientific in any way, shape or form. It is merely a listing of albums that I had bought over the course of the year and that had made an impression on me. I compiled the chart based on two criteria: 1.) how much the album was in my CD player, and 2.) how original the album/artist was. I know I haven't had the chance to listen to everything that was released in the last year, but of the stuff that I did get to buy (about 93 CDs), this is what made the greatest impression on me.
